The Perry Chamber of Commerce is proud to produce the annual Dogwood Festival! We are celebrating the 25th Anniversary April 13th & 14th, 2013. The Dogwood Festival has traditionally been comprised of a two day Arts and Crafts exhibit in Downtown Perry. We are excited to expand the Dogwood Festival for 2013 to include a Hot Air Balloon Rally and a DockDogs Competition!

The Hot Air Balloon Rally is scheduled for April 13th at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and will feature 15 Hot Air Balloons offering tethered rides, an entertainment stage hosting live music, kid’s activities, and much more! The gates will open to the public at 4 pm and the Balloon Glow will take place at dusk. The event will be $5 per person with children under 6 free.

The DockDogs Competition is being held in conjunction with the Arts & Crafts Festival in front of the New Perry Hotel on Main Street.  For two days visitors are treated to beautiful retrievers vying for points to enter the DockDogs National Competition held in the fall each year.  Delight in this free entertainment which is fun for all ages!

The traditional component of the Dogwood Festival will remain very much the same. The arts and crafts event entices thousands of people in beautiful, historic downtown Perry celebrating spring for two days! For 25 years the annual Dogwood Festival brings Perry residents and tourist to Downtown Perry each April. This free event showcases beautiful historic downtown Perry while featuring nearly 100 unique vendors.

Letter from 2013 Board Chairman

Welcome to our Perry Chamber of Commerce Dogwood Festival website.  A fabulous event is planned April 13 and 14, 2013, in beautiful Perry, Georgia!  As we celebrate our 25th festival anniversary, we hope that you will join us to celebrate the arrival of spring in the midst of the splendor of historic downtown Perry!

This year we are excited to introduce a new event - hot air balloons.  There’s nothing like a ride among the clouds!  Climb aboard to hear the burners roar, lifting you high above the tree tops to float on air, with the town below looking like a patchwork quilt.  Or take a ride in the basket of a tethered balloon to experience a memorable and fun ride.  If you prefer to be earth-bound, simply walk among the brightly colored balloons to enjoy and learn about this form of aviation.  Best of all, don’t miss the Balloon Glow where the gorgeous balloons are aglow with light at night.  It’s a beautiful sight!

There are many more exciting activities planned to make our Dogwood Festival an unforgettable event for you and your family.  Shop for treasures, run/walk a 5K, feast on culinary delights, climb a rock wall, or just stroll through our inviting downtown streets, all while celebrating spring and enjoying our community’s beautiful dogwoods.  A good time will be had by all, so don’t miss our 2013 Perry Chamber of Commerce Dogwood Festival!

And if you long for a hometown that offers friendly people, charming and historic architecture, plenty of shopping and restaurants, quality services, affordable housing, great schools and varied recreation - all within a few miles – come and stay!  Although growing, Perry retains our small-town charm and southern hospitality.  See y'all in beautiful, historic downtown Perry!

Letter from Dogwood Festival Founders

Welcome to 25 years of showcasing Perry, Georgia to the world! The Dogwood Festival started as a way to bring local people together to celebrate the beauty of Perry in the spring and to invite all of Georgia to discover our unique downtown area!

As active business owners in downtown Perry, we served on the ‘Downtown Promotional Council’ and wanted to promote the beautiful heart of Perry. After brainstorming ideas, we all decided a festival would be effective and fun. “Cherry Blossom” was taken; “Gnats” didn’t strike the right chord and so, after driving through the streets and seeing the gorgeous blooms, “Dogwood Festival” seemed to paint the perfect picture.  The community embraced the festival as individuals, business owners and civic organizations participated and sponsored the many events. We had no idea that our initial community effort would take root and grow into the nationally recognized event that it is today. This wonderful festival could not have happened without the support and enthusiasm of our community!

The 2013 Dogwood Festival promises to be the biggest and best ever with new events like a balloon glow and the famous Dock Dogs competition! There’s something for everyone, so please join us to renew old acquaintances, greet new visitors and enjoy a great family festival in Perry!!
